IE 6 is getting freezed/shut down when a deactivated record is activated RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We are facing some problem in CRM. When deactivated ID(Case n a custom entity record) is opened, and if it is “activated” then it gives error message and forced termination happens means IE(version 6) is freezing/shutting down. This problem is observed in production environment but we are not able to reproduce in dev enviroment.

But if we do activate from the actions menu on the grid it is working fine.

So please help me out to solve this issue.

    Regards,

  • HI Sujatha,

Windows XP SP1 & SP2 for x86 machines and Windows XP SP1 for x64 machines are not under support from Microsoft. So above machines won't receive any critical updates and all the products installed on the machines(IE too) will not be bug free. I believe because of that reason and also as per your saying your Dev environment is doing fine, there is no problem from your end.

I suggest you to upgrade end user machines with SP3(if x86)/SP2(if x64) and scan for updates and install them. Do the upgrade with one end user machine on which they are facing the problem and if it resolves the issue then upgrade all others.

Even if the problem resolved with installing IE 7 or IE 8 on current end user machines(I dont know whether they can be installed on unsupported OS), some or the other day you may face a different issue because IE is lagging updates.

    Thank You, Regards, Vikranth

  • Hi Ranjit,

Thanks for the reply. Our server environment is Windows 2008 SP1 and IE 6 SP1. We are not facing the problem in the dev environment, but the users are facing. So we tried to get the info. about the OS and the IE browser versions ans SP. So will this solve the problem?. And one morething we are having 5 iframes on the form. So will this also create a problem?

  • Hi,

Windows XP SP1 and IE 6 is the environment of the users. And Sophos is installed on the users machine. So when Sophos is disabled Ie is working fine. But when it is enabled and the user tries to activate the record IE is shutting down.

In the same environment we are trying to reproduce the error. But we are not able to.

    Any help would be great.

  • Hi,

    Thanks for reply.

May be you are correct. In all our machines we have Windows XP SP3 and clients are using Windows XP Professional with SP2. So due to this also users might be getting the issue.

And when they disable the "Sophos" then it is working fine.

  • Hi,

We configured the same environment(Windows XP Professional with SP2 and IE 6 SP3) like the users. But still we are not able to reproduce the issue. So can you please suggest how to troubleshoot this further/
