Toshiba OEM Office XP 'no product key detected' RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've just rebuilt my Toshiba laptop, and I'm getting the 'no product key detected' message when I try to validate.

The Office XP Professional 2002 software came directly from Toshiba with my earlier laptop.  The Office CD has never left my control.  When I take the laptop to the service depot, I remove the hard drive.

At any rate, my copy is genuine, and the likelihood that the product key is being mis-used is pretty low.

I have un-installed and re-installed Office twice and used the Microsoft cleanup utility because the laptop originally came with trial Office and Oulook Express software.

I also think the 'no product key detected' message is a bit confused.  It seems the idea of the message is that there is something wrong with the product key (invalid, mis-used).  Instead, the plain meaning of the message is that the validation site cannot detect any product key, either valid or invalid.  Paradoxically, in this case the message seems to be correct: I have a valid product key, but the validation site can't detect that.
