Can not backup files, lack of permissions RRS feed

    When trying to backup files from a computer to the central backup device I get the error message: "OneCare cannot retrieve the space on the Central backup device because if lack of permissions. Please provide permissions, and then try again."

     

    The computer that needs the back up is running XP Home 32-bit; the backup device is located on a computer running Vista Ultimate 32-bit. I guess my question would be how would I go about setting up the permissions to allow the XP computer to access the network device? The Vista computer has no problems backing up files.

    Open the external drive properties>Sharing>Advanced Sharing>select "Share this Folder" ( the folder field should be automatically populated by the drive letter  ), select "Permissions", select "Full Control", select "Apply".
