Microsoft word 2007 suddenly not genuine RRS feed

  • Question

  • I bought a new laptop around a year ago and it came with office 2007 already on it. However, now when I try to access word 2007 it tells me that my copy is not genuine. This message only seems to effect word and not any other programmes such as excel. What can I do to rectify the problem?

Please refer to this nsippet of your mgadiag report:

Right now your computer has a Volume Licensing installation of Office 2007 Enterprise, and that installation was done with an Invalid Volume Licensing Key (VLK).  An Invalid product key means that the key was made with a pirating program known as a Key Generator and was never issued by Microsoft.  This nongenuine software is what is causing the warings you are seeing.

If you purchased your Dell computer brand new from Dell, it may have come with a Trial Edition of Office 2007, or, if you specifically ordered and paid for it, a preinstalled edition of Office 2007.  At the moment, neither of those two possibilities is installed on the computer.  Is it possible that the installation of Office that you say was on the computer when it came from Dell was over-written by another installation, which is the current nongenuine installation?

If you have the genuine Microsoft hologrammed Office CDs that would have been included with your purchase of Office from Dell, you can use them to install Genuine office on your computer.

The Good News is that the installation of Windows Vista Home Premium on your Dell Inspiron 1525 computer is a Genuine installation of an OEM license for Vista Home Premium, exactly what we should be seeing in the report.

It's clearly Genuine but when I open up word I get a message saying the following: This copy of Microsoft Office is not genuine. In 12 days Office applications will be marked as not genuine. Genuine Office helps guard against vulnerabilities that may exist in non-genuine copies. Click Learn More for online details and help identifying the best way to get genuine Microsoft Office.

I have clicked on learn more and it suggest I buy another version of office 2007. However, for obvious reasons I'm loathed to do this. Please Help!
