  • Question

  • I have all the stuff collected for a new server for this test.  I have the option of using an IDE drive or a SATA drive for the system drive. (one ide slot and 4 sata slots, total)

    Is there a preference? either in terms of reliability or performance. I am inclinded to use the IDE for the system and save the SATA slots for the data disks.

    Any suggestions?

  • Personally, use a SATA drive as the primary drive.
    But you should read this for yourself;

  • From what I have read Topo;ogy is not as important as size.  Throw the biggest drive you have in first.
