Ribbon Bar in Settings Frozen RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

When in Settings the ribbon bar at the top seems to only show [New Activity/ New Record/ Import Data/ Advanced Find/ Help]. When selecting any subcategory e.g. Administration/ Customizations etc. the bar freezes and I am unable to do anything using the ribbon. This includes adding new users. This has been working fine untill the latest update was added (Unsure if this is related) as other colleges ribbon bar is fine.

    Regards,

    Charlotte

  • Charlotte,

After you install any update rollup, delete the temporary files in Windows Internet Explorer. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Start Internet Explorer.
    2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
    3. Use one of the following methods for the version of Internet Explorer that you use:
      • In Windows Internet Explorer 7, click Delete in the Browsing history area, clickDelete files in the Temporary Internet Files area, and then click Yes.
      • In Microsoft Internet Explorer 6, click Delete files in the Temporary Internet Filesarea, and then click OK.

    Restart IE and check!

  • Hi Charlotte,

This could possibly happen because of any improper use of JavaScript syntax by which your IE may behave indifferently.

A simple example as given in the below article,

    http://blog.aresgrp.com/crm/post/CRM-Ribbon-Bar-disappears-after-adding-JavaScript-to-the-page.aspx

I would not say that this could be the cause but may just be a possibility.

BTW : Which is your IE version? and is it the same in the other working machines???

Is there any latest update rollup applied to either one of the client PC's?

Finding these details will help us narrow down to the root cause

    Thanks!

    Cheers, Francis Edwin
