One Care stopped working on 1 computer but fine on the other......

Question
-
Yesterday I was changing some RAM and it didnt work so I was trying a few different things to get it working , like reseting the bios, and my One Care stopped working after one of my reboots. I got an error ID 0014-80072F8F saying that I have a network problem and I cant contine with a fresh install of my one care disk. Ive tried start-stop winss, Ive tried going into services.msc and setting Terminal to auto. My account is good thru august but I can't get one care to recognise my windows live ID either. Any help would be appreciated.

Resetting the BIOS would have reset the system clock, and an incorrect date is probably the most common cause of this particular error message. So first try these recommendations from the Online Help page for this error: http://help.live.com/Help.aspx?market=en-US&project=onecarev2&querytype=topic&query=OneCare_TROU_InstallationErrorMessage.htm

I moved your post to the Install and activate forum.
The 0014 error means that there is an issue with your network configuration. In addition, you may want to run the cleanup tool before trying the reinstall -
Don't bother with your install disk, download and install the trial from http://onecare.live.com as the disc installer will still need to download the latest program bits anyway.
See this post for the KB article to troubleshoot install problems - http://social.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/onecareinstallandactivate/thread/ba26b781-da18-4ce4-be8c-22647bd5d8fc/
Your subscription LiveID will be needed to activate once you have installed again. On the PC where OneCare is working and installed, open OneCare and click on Help/About... to see the LvieID you need to use for activation. If you are getting the 0014 error, you aren't yet installed, so I don't know how the LiveID plays into things yet.

Ah, thanks, GreginMich - overlooked that bit of information. That would also explain the LiveID login problem!

Glad to read that GreginMich spotted that as the likely cause. You'd think that OneCare would be smart enough to see the date/time issue and report that to you instead of throwing the arcane network error. :-)
