Track Achieved E-mails RRS feed

  • We are using CRM 4.0 with Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 on Windows XP (SP 3).  Why can’t  I track an Achieved E-mail from with in the E-mail? There is an option to do this on the main Outlook window but not within the archived email itself.

     Can anybody explain the reason?

  • Hi,

         When emails are archived, they are moved to your local storage and are no longer part of the main .pst file for outlook. As CRM for outlook is a client side addin that is written for outlook, there is no easy way for it to run this on the hard drive file. It is possible but I think CRM addin is not written for it so will not work.

    I have also got a beautiful article from my Friend Jithesh karumapatty Kalam. According to this if you need to track an archieved E-mail you need to restore the E-mail from Vault. We followed these steps.

    1. Select the E-mail you wanted to track.
    2. Then click on Tools->Enterprise Vault->Restore from Vault
    3. This will restore the E-mail
    4. Once the E-mail is restored, you can view the track button
    5. To Achieve the E-mail back, select the E-mail and then click on Tools->Enterprise Vault->store in Vault
    6. This will store the E-mail back to Enterprise Vault
