  • You seem to be rather confused on a few points.

    1) Microsoft Works is not part of Windows, and never has been

    2) Microsoft Word is not part of either Works or Windows - and never has been (although a limited version was part of the Works Suite add-on for Works)

If you have Works on your Vista PC, and don't like it, then you can upgrade to Office - Office 2013 Home & Student is the cheapest current  option

From Word, you can open Works documents, and save them as PDF files if necessary.

If you want to upgrade Vista, you can do so by purchasing an Upgrade to either Windows 7 Home Premium or Windows 8 Pro.

All are available from retail outlets, or from the Microsoft Store - http://www.microsoftstore.com
