Office 2007 validated sucessfully on Vista, but still shows "This copy of Office is not genuine" button and disable outlook functions. This is my output from the Iagnostic report:

Hello :-)
Please check your installed programs "control panel" and see if there may be Home and Student 2007 version there. Computers usually come with a pre-installed trial version of Office which is usable for a limited time period for customers. In turn the customer may purchase Office should they like what it has to offer. There may be a possibility some remenants have been left behind which could be conflicting with you other Office versions.
Thank you,
Stephen

Tlawdvenroc,
I recommend contacting the person who supplied you with th is copy. Also you may want to check with the University systems administration section and let them know what is occuring. This is licensed to them.
Take care,
Stephen

Hello
There used to be a valid Office2003 student edition on my laptop, but I have removed everything trying to solved the issue.
Currently there is only the Office 2007 edition on my laptop.
How/where can I check to see for any remenants left?

Hello tlawdvenroc,
Are you aware that you have a Volume Licensing edition of Office Professional Plus 2007 installed on the computer? Is your use of this product associated with an organization that has a vaild and current Volume Licensing Agreement with Microsoft?
If you purchased this product at retail thinking it was for individual use, you may have counterfeit software installed.

Hello
yes I am aware of that. I used to have a student (office 2003) on my laptop. I am now a lecturer at the university and got a valid Office 2007 suite at the university. The office 2007 was not purchased at a retail outlet.

Stephan, this is really bad/unprofessional advice.
There is nothing wrong with the licence itself; all the other lectures are using it without any issues/problems. The problem lies with my Vista home/Office 2007 combination that used to have Office 2003 on it or something in that line...…???
Office 2007 validated successfully (using the website - http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/office/SuccessfulValidation.aspx?displaylang=en&PartnerID=408&sGuid=0befa0bf-8f70-4900-80c1-73290d7c6d18&Error=100) , I can even access the online Office 2007 store without any problems. Hence, according to Office, it is VALID. But it is still showing the “This copy of Office is not genuine” button… even if it tried to validate the bloody thing 1000x times…
Do you realized how many frustrating hours I have already spend trying to fix this issue (I have uninstalled twice ALL Office programs from my laptop as part of this process…). If I was not forced to make use of Offic2007 for my lectures, I would have rather removed it completely from my laptop and rather use OpenOffice or something that is not this bloody annoying.
Please advice!

Hello tlawdvenroc,
Please try updating the OGA software with this direct download: http://download.microsoft.com/download/e/3/0/e30c3edb-df15-4b9b-87da-6d70f91d9a82/OGANotifier_ENU.msi

Excellent! As a helper on this forum I noticed a recent "rash" of folks posting who unfortunately learned that they bought counterfeit Office Pro Plus 2007 at retail thinking it was Office Pro 2007, and I wanted to open a dialog with you to see if you too might have also been a victim of the same scam. (Microsoft does replace hi-quality counterfeit copies of Office for free under some cirumstances.)
But under your circumstances, it's not a problem. :-)

Hello tLawdvenroc,
Thank you again for providing us with further details. The details will help us to resolve the issue which you are experiencing. As Dan previously mentioned you have a Volume Licensing edition of Office Professional Plus 2007 installed. As a rule, VL editions of Office Suites should not be sold to individual consumers. Businesses, schools and governments normally use VL editions for flexibility in installing many computers. This is why I previously recommended for you to contact the person who supplied you with this Office Suite. Curious is this an University computer or a personal computer? If the computer is the Universities all the more reason why I would recommend for you consult with the Network Administration section. The reason why I mentioned this was your initial posting said still shows "This copy of Office is not genuine". The next step would be for your systems administrator to logon to the eOpen site (https://eopen.microsoft.com/EN/default.asp) and confirm what your University's assigned VLK is for Office.
Tlawdvenroc you mentioned, "I am now a lecturer at the university and got a valid Office 2007 suite at the university." Can you tell us how you received this copy? Did you purchase this from their bookstore or through a reduced cost program offered at the University?
Would you like to submit a service request with Microsoft Product Support? Include your Product Key for Office Professional Plus 2007 so that we may analyze specifics surrounding the problems you are encountering. Also provide the full product key for Office Student 2003 edition you previously had installed. Once this is completed, please reply back to this post and provide the SR # generated by the service request .Microsoft Help and Support:

Again thank you :-)

Hello Tlawdvenroc,
Please glance at the following Knowledge Base article:
KB290301 – Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301 .
Right now it may be hard to tell if any remnants are left behind but maybe this tool could help. First provide the information I previously posted so I can troubleshoot from that angle.
Thank you,
Stephen

Hello Dan
The link is not working - is there maybe an alternative url please?Wednesday, April 22, 2009 9:46 AM -
Hello Dan
No, I got my Office 2007 for free at the university (did not have to buy it). The network administrator made a copy for me and provided me with a VALID volume license key.
Thank you anywaysWednesday, April 22, 2009 9:52 AM -
Hello tlawdvenroc,
Unfortunately the link is not working and I cannot find a working link to the KB949810 which is the OGA Notifier Update. I have a hunch that if we could uninstall and reinstall the Notifier it would "correct itself" to see that your Office installations are validated as Genuine as reported by the mgadiag utility. There's probably a leftover bit from the old nongenuine Office 2003 that's bollixing things up.I would recommend that you take Stephen's advice and submit the free online support request at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=52029

Tlawdvenroc,
Below are steps for a manuel installation of the OGA ActiveX installation. Maybe this will help you. If not please submit a service request.
Step 1: OGA Manual ActiveX Installation
Click the Start button, then Click Run
Type: iexplore http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=58813 then Click OK
You will be prompted to download “OGAControl.cab”
Choose Open
Once this completes, a window will open showing two files. “OGACheckControl.dll” and “LegitCheckControl.inf” Leave this window open for now.
Click the Start button, then Click Run
Once this completes, a window will open showing two files, OGACheckControl.dll and OGAControl.inf. Leave this window open for now.
Click the Start button, then click “Run”
Type: system32, then Click OK
(If you are running Windows XP, you may need to click Show Files to allow access to this system directory.)
Drag the “OGACheckControl.dll” file from the window that was open into the “system32” directory folder. If you are prompted to overwrite a file, choose Yes, to overwrite any existing file. (If you are running Vista, you may be prompted to provide administrator permission to complete the action. If so, Press Continue, and allow it.)
Click the Start button, then Click Run
Type “regsvr32 OGACheckControl.dll”, and then click ‘OK’.
You should see a dialog saying “DllRegisterServer in OGACheckControl.dll succeeded.”
After you finish the above steps please restart the computer and try to validate Windows XP again. Here is the link:
