Trying to download templates - G.A. says Publisher 2002 is not Valid RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I'm trying to download Office 2007 Templates; Genuine Advantage says MS Publisher 2002 is not valid. So, it won't allow downloads. I've already activated MS Office 2007 Ultimate (all products).

I cannot remove the program (Publisher 2002) from Add/Remove Programs, the error message is "The installation source for this product is not available - Verify that the source exists".  I then tried deleting it from the Registry but after rebooting the system is still recognizing it.

I ran the G.A. Tool and the following is what it found:

  • Wisedon,

I understand the inconvenience you are currently experiencing and would like to provide available options we have for assisting customers to address issues they are currently experiencing. Attached below is a Knowledge Base (KB) article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301. This will allow you to download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility and explain detailed information. Use the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility and uninstall all Microsoft Office programs on your computer (MS Publisher), then reinstall Microsoft Publisher (if you require it)  using the genuine installation CD and product key. Please activate stand alone programs separately from the actual MS Office Suite.
Next, review the KB article @ http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/selfhelp/PkuInstructions.aspx?displayLang=enUtility.  This link provides information for Windows Product Key Update Tool Instructions.
If you are still having issues, can you do the following?
    1) Logon to the PC that is experiencing the notifications as a user with “ADMINISTRATOR” privileges.
    2) Download the tool: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 click RUN.
    3) When the tool loads, click “CONTINUE”.
    4) Is the “RESOLVE” button available? If so, please click “RESOLVE” to allow the diagnostic tool repair the issue.
    5) From the Windows tab, click the COPY button.
    6) Please reply back to this post and PASTE the entire results into reply of this post.
We can take a look at it and offer you some suggestions as to how to resolve this issue.

  • Wisedon,

Here is another solution for the 101 activation error you received.

    1.  I would like to provide the following steps to try and resolve the issue. Please follow the steps to attempt resolving this issue.   Open My Computer located on your desktop
    2) Go to: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Office\Data\
NOTE:  The application data file may be hidden. Use the Tools drop down menu and follow :>Folder Options->View->Hidden Files and Folders->Show Hidden Files and Folders to show the folder. Please re-hide the files once you have completed all the steps.
    3) Right click the data.dat file, then click “Delete.
    4) This data.dat file is for Office (not OGA)
    5) Once the file has been deleted, open an Office application such as MS Word and “ACTIVATE” it.
    6)  If product activation was successful try the Office Genuine Advantage (OGA). Please launch the following link and begin the OGA process again: (this is the OGA part; Office Genuine Advantage):  http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/office/Validate.aspx?displaylang=eng
