port authentication on win XP SP3 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

I have Windows XP SP3 installed on my laptop. I want to enable user based port authentication i.e., domain\username rather than computer based which is host/computername. but whenever i connect my laptop to office network i get logs of computer authentication first then user based authentication. Is there any way I can stop laptop being authenticated as host, and authenticated as only user?

Also in LAN adapter settings there is not option for "Authenticate as computer when computer information is available" instead i get only one option when i click on authentication tab of lan adapter settings. the option is "cache user information for subsequent connections to network"

how do i make my laptop authenticate only as user(domain-name\username) and never as host (host/computername)whenever it comes into network
