This copy of windows is not genuine. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi guys, I got a PC here from our customer which suddenly started saying that windows is not genuine. There was a problem with Windows Update not working but that is sorted.

It says to "Go online to resolve the issue" but after clicking on the link it goes to Microsoft page "We are sorry the page you requested cannot be found". I don't have the original license key but apparently customer got it from us years ago(I doubt he would get a windows 7 enterprise license from us but, never say never)

Here is a log from MGADiag:

  • The Volume MAK Key in use has been blocked by Microsoft - preseumably because the company has retired it, or becuase it's been abused.

You need to contact your System Admin and see what they have to say.,

  • There's no public tutorial - most of what I know, I learned the hard way by solving problems, and doing research for the 10,000-odd threads I've responded to here and elsewhere.

I do have an archive of bits and pieces - if you're interested, email me :)
