preapproval to the WGA to install with a GPO, reg hack or command line? RRS feed

  • Question

I ran the Baseline Security Analyzer and found a bunch of PCs that did not have updates because the PCs are waiting on the user to click install on the WGA. That really is a stick in the spokes for auto updates.

For the Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool (KB892130) is there a GPO to give preapproval to the WGA to install? I have legit versions of Windows and I would like the auto updates to work automatically. I do not want my users clicking to install things, I tend to discourage that.

I would also take a reg hack or command line to automate the install of the WGA so my auto updates will start auto updating again.

I have been told that I can use a SUS server but I am going to need to do it without adding anything other than a GPO, reg hack or command line.
