Moving Windows XP Local users to Domain users RRS feed

  • Question

  • A little background about the issue:
    Windows XP SP3
    local administrator account
Rights to add machines to domain
local User account profile already exsists
Do not have access to local user's password or the local user (physically) so we can't log into their account
We don't know their domain user account SID
roaming profiles is not an option

We are converting multiple XP machines over to a domain already set up by another administrator. We already know how to add the machines to the domain, and how to make the current local admin users a local admin via domain log in by adding them to the Administrator Group on the local machine.

How do we move their current local profile to the domain profile without loosing any of their documents and settings? (remember we don't know their password to log into their account)

Is it possible for the local account and the domain account to use the same exact profile path?
