Outlok msvcr80.ddl error

Question

Our Outlook 2003 has started to display an error message "Microsoft Outlook has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience"
However, if you do not click on the "Close" button Outlook will continue to function, you can send / receive, read mail, etc. The problem seems to be worse on my wifes Outlook account and less on mine. She will get several such errors in a session, I occasionally get one.
If I try to reinstall Outlook from my original CD ROM will it help? On reinstall will it erase our address books, saved emails, calander, etc.?
So upset with the unstable performance of Microsoft products I am one step short of going to a Mac.

This is a Visual C++ forum. I suggest reposting in a more relevant forum, perhaps something that is devoted to Office.
In my experience many instabilities such as the one you describe are not related to the core product at all, but due to a third party Add-on. I suggest removing all add-ons first and see if that clears up the problem.Thursday, August 27, 2009 11:01 PM -
