Project Server 2007 all x64 bit, trying to install Portfolio Server RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm pulling my hair out over this, I hope someone can help.  A previous employee here built our Project Server 2007 environment totally x64, the servers and also it's accessing a SQL 2008 X64 backend.  Now management dumped this on me and told me to install Portfolio Server 2007.  I can't get it to work because it's a x32 only product and says it will not work with a SQL 2008 X64 database.  What am I suppose to do?  How do I use Portfolio Server 2007 with a totally 64 bit Project Server 2007 environment?

  • You can install Portfolio Server 2007 only on X86 environment.

In this case, install Portfolio server 2007 and SQL server reporting service on x86 machine, try to connect with your existing  SQL 2008 server.

I have configured PPS 2007 & SSRS 2005 on x86 with SQL 2005 on x64. But never tried on PPS on X86 and SQL 2008 on x64, i trust it should work.

Otherwise keep Project server 2007 on X64 and PPS on X86, communcate these servers through Project Server Gateway.
