When looking at user profile, broken links in activities when the thread has moved on another forum RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

On a SQL Server Forum, i discovered a thread with an intering answer.
I click on the user chinthapalli   http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/user?user=chinthapalli
    i clicked on chinthapalli threads
i click on the 4th thread ( 2 nd page ) store pdf in SQL Server ( it is interesting for me ) , and i am arriving on the thread with no problem ( Transact-SQL Forum ) : no problem
if i click on view profile  for this user, i am arriving on a page
    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Profile/en-US/?user=chinthapalli&referrer=http%3a%2f%2fsocial.msdn.microsoft.com%2fForums%2fen-US%2fuser%3fuser%3dchinthapalli&rh=IDqbpWYUC%2fFSIR8aiafjZ4%2fp1sfOErvZCOX4gi3Iztc%3d

on the right part i see activities ( i suppose that the list of threads where the user has posted )
i click on the thread store pdf in SQL Server  ( i see SQL Server Database Engine Forum not the same ) bad luck : i am getting Page not found

I think that the threads in Activities are not updated when a thread is moved to another forum.

I have not posted on the Bugs report Forums for 2 reasons :
    1) i am not sure that's a bug . I think i have not used the software in a correct way
    2) even if there is a bug, i consider that it is only annoying.
    3) i prefer to do a feedback rather to provoke an alert towards the Team developping the software ( less aggresive and a moderator may always move this thread to a better Forum )

Please, is it possible that someone explains me where i am doing an error ?

    Have a nice day

  • Its a bug.  The database is filled with 404 links since they added the forum name to a thread URL back in November.  They are trying to unbug the bug with a workaround, late this month I heard.  Moderators should not be moving threads right now.

  • Hello nobugz,

    Thanks for this information.
I have noticed that there are bugs when i am moving a thread from a forum to another one.
But when i see that a thread is not in the better forum, i propose to the OP to move it and i move after the agreement of the OP ( i want that the OP can receive an answer in the shorter slice of time.
I am sorry to learn that i am spoiling the forums.
I hope that the informations i have given will be helpful for the Software  Team to find and to repair this bug ( annoying )

    Have a nice day
