You have a tampered file, try running the command "SFC /SCANNOW".
- Type cmd in the search box of the start menu, right click and select run as administrator.
- type SFC /SCANNOW at the prompt and press enter.
- Allow SFC to run, reboot as directed.
- Go to www.microsoft.com/genuine and attempt to validate.
If that fails type system restore in the search box of the start menu and click on the system restore application, follow the prompts of the restore wizard to restore to a point prior to your non-genuine status. Make a note of the programs that will be removed, one of them may be the culprit. Again, follow the instructions in step 4 above.
Thanks
Carl

Carl, Thanks for your quick response. 9% through the sfc/scannow I get a message "Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation." Don't have a Restore Point before I began to have the problem. Now what?Thursday, September 23, 2010 8:02 PM
