  • The link appears to be broken. I have notified the One Care team and am awaiting a response, but I may not hear back before Monday. I will update this thread when I hear something.

  • This link works for me - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=165528 If you can't start the download by clicking this link try copying and pasting the link in your browser address bar.

  • I clicked the link once and it gave me an HTML file that opened in IE with a page cannot be displayed error, but clicking the link again got me the download. It appears that whatever redirect mechanism Microsoft is using for the "go" to linkID= is occasionally burping. Simply give it another click when it fails the first time.

  • Hi!

I've tried using the onecare restore tool today, but it is giving me an error message.

When i try to open it, it gaves me a page cannot be display page, when i click on save it tells that the internet site is either unavailable or cannot be found.
Do we have any workaround for this?

Is there any other link to use to download this tool

    thanks in advance

  • thanks for the reply Jim. Are you sure the site is available or is it getting blocked by my Microsoft Security Essentials? I'm getting this message clicking on your link:

    The page cannot be found

The page you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.

Live for me, Jim149. What are you encountering?
No promises that this won't change, since the original link is a redirect, but the actual destination at the moment is this:

  • The link eventually worked and the restore went like a charm. However The Windows Easy Transfer wizard works even better.( Used it on other computers)

  • Yes indeed. The WET utility on the Windows 7 disc is excellent for copying files and settings from a PC before installing Windows 7 or to use it to move the data to a new PC. The OneCare backup can then serve as a fail safe - just in case. :-)
