Task Level - Last Date/Time Modified RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is there a way in MS Project 2010 to insert a column or some type of field that will show the last Date/Time that task had any updates made?

I am trying to create some sort of flag to identify tasks which have changed within the past week, in order for them be boldened and italicized on a schedule to bring attention to their recent activity.

  • JoshUSCB,

Unfortunately there is no built-in field that provides the information you want. However by using the Compare Project versions utility you can see changes from one week to the next. With a little extra effort, either manually or using VBA, a flag field could be set that acts as the main criteria for custom font characteristics.

Interestingly enough, many years ago I wrote a macro that does exactly what you are after. It compares two versions of a project file and highlights task field changes. It was developed before Microsoft added the Compare Project versions utility to Project and the macro uses direct highlighting in lieu of creating a separate comparison file.

  • As part of my standard project update process, I re-save a baseline every week before doing updates. I can then easily see changes week by week (especially if I save a copy each week).

    Otherwise, what John says!
