MS-MPI on Windows XP Professional? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am developing an MPI based product.
The current situation is that we develop for Windows XP Professional 32 and 64 bit, and we don't have the possibility to upgrade either to Windows Server or Windows CCS/HPC Server family.

I wanted to know If there is a "MPI Library only" product that can run either on XP 32-bit and/or 64 bit that I can evaluate?

  • Moshe,
The HPC Server 2008 SDK, installed on a single WindowXP (32-bit and 64-bit) machine, enabled the developer to run MS-MPI jobs with an arbitrary number of MPI processes but this is only for a single node and only for development purposes.  Unfortunately, Microsoft does not offer a cluster solution for WindowsXP.  However, there are other MPI stacks which run on Windows (and I believe XP) such as the Windows version of the MPICH stack from Argonne National Labs.
