Elevating forum threads to a bug report

  I may have missed it, but is there any mechanism to elevate a discussion thread to a bug report, perhaps with the blessing of a moderator to avoid a deluge of merely unanswered questions?

  The back and forth of a discussion on a problem must be of some use to the engineers and seems time consuming and wasteful to replicate in a bug report.
