Creating van runs by typing in customer account numbers instead of postcodes. Is it possible? RRS feed

  • Question

  • We use the software to plan drivers runs each day at work. We only run round the same 100 customers, is it possible to save the customer name/ account number e.g. Acme signs saved as account number "acme01" with their postcode in a database such that each morning we could just type in the list of account numbers (which we know) and not have to look up in their postcodes as we do at present?

  • You could add pushpins for each of the customers, and name each pushpin with the customer code.

Then you just search on the customer code, and MapPoint should offer the pushpin as an option.

Custom programming and MapPoint is an alternative - this would take the customer code (perhaps from a database of work orders) and then search the location (pre-geocoded, so even more accurate than a postcode), and add a new waypoint to the current route.
