Elimination of .MPG Format and Camera RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have been working with Windows 8 and while happy I can edit AVCHD, I am disallowed to edit a format that my camera uses as well. The Format is.MPG . I realize that MS stopped this for DVDs but did Microsoft take the time to think of other devices that it would effect by removing this software? Cameras also record in  .MPG format for recording especially the ones that are like  those point and shoot Sanyo  ,the JVC camcorders and such. all the way uo to the HDR 520V by Sony.

So I am I to understand correctly that if a person has such devices, they will have to purchase 3rd party software,) if none came with the camera) My mom has such a camera a JVC it did not come with a disk as it was "Windows Ready"

So Will people have to get third party Software now just to use such cameras?
