Updating data in sub accounts from parents accounts RRS feed

  • Hi,

    I have created two own entities wich I have connected via a 1 to N relations.

    Account A is the parent account and Account B the sub account.

    My question is how I get the sub accounts to update them selfs when I do some changes to Account A. I have done the mapping to the fields I require the updates, and the mapping works when I create new accounts under Account A (The data fill in its self) but not when I do some changes to the mapped fileds.

    Is it possible to get the sub accounts to update?

    Appriciate any help.

  • You can use the Distribute Workflow Activity for On-Premise deployments of CRM 4 or 2011:



    Using these, you could watch an attribute change on the parent, and fire off a workflow against the child-accounts that updates the children with data from the parent.  This is, however, asynchronous.  If you need a more synchronous or CRM Online-compatible update model, then you're pretty much stuck with using a Plug-In.

  • You will probably need a plugin that triggers each time those fields are updated. Then the plugin must retrieve all the child accounts and update them with the field from the parent. However, if you expect many sub-accounts you might experience timeout, as plugins are only allowed to execute for max 2 minutes. In the case you need more than 2 minutes you would need a custom workflow activity like David suggests, but it won't be synchronous and won't work in CRM Online

  • Hi, is there a way to retrieve child accounts from the parent account? What will be the linq code? Can anyone help? Assuming I have nested parent - child accounts
