There is no way to add more than one PromptDatabase file to a SpeechSequentialWorkflowActivity RRS feed

  • Question

  • About one year ago, I submitted a suggestion to the connect site (ID 135882), suggesting that there be some way to add multiple prompt database files to a workflow.

In September, a comment was added saying that it had been implemented and would be in the next release.

Has this been implemented?  I do not see it in the latest beta release but maybe I'm missing something.

  • The Prompt Project project type is listed under "Other Project Types".  Go to Add New Project-->Other Project Types-->Prompt Projects.

  • I think you misunderstood me.

There is a property on the SpeechSequentialWorkflowActivity called PromptDatabase.  This allows you to add the .prompts file for the workflow to use.

I posted a suggestion to allow multiple prompt databases to be added to the workflow.  An example of this would be adding a PromptDatabases property of the type List<Uri> to the SpeechSequentialWorkflowActivity class.

I was told that the feature I suggested was implemented, but I have not seen this.

  • Yes, this was implemented, but not in the way you imagined. You can only add one PromptDatabase per SpeechSequence, but you can embed one SpeechSequence within another, and the set of prompt databases used for a given QA/Statement is based on all of the "ancestor" SpeechSequences. So just put another SpeechSequence into your workflow and set the PromptDatabase property on both of them.

  • You can also specify mutiple prompt databases via SSML.

    e.g.

    Code Snippet

    <ssml:speak version="1.0" xml:lang="en-US" xmlns:ssml="http://www.w3.org/2001/10/synthesis" xmlns:pe="http://schemas.microsoft.com/Speech/2003/03/PromptEngine"><pe:prompt_output><pe:database fname="http://Localhost/AppDir/Data/prompts/travel.prompts"/><pe:database fname="http://Localhost/AppDir/Data/prompts/money.prompts"/>Miami dollars, England pounds, Japan Yen </pe:prompt_output></ssml:speak>

  • And don't forget to add additional resource entries in Manifest.xml for the additional prompt databases, so that they will get preloaded.
