Upgrade to CRM 2011 - CRM-server support upgrade but DB-server does not RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

A client has the following setup:

    • CRM 4.0-server: Server 2008 R2 64-bit
    • SQL-server: Server 2003 x86, SQL 2005

They also have a SQL server with SQL 2008R2 x64.

How can I upgrade this environment if I want to reuse the CRM-server? Is there some hybrid in-place/migration-supported way of doing this, or is it best to have a new CRM-server so that we can perform a clean DB-migration?

  • Hi,

Move the CRM database to SQL 2008R2 x64.

    From CRM Server:

    1. Go to Regedit-> CRM-> Modify the SQL Server name

    2. Go to Deployment Manager-> Servers-> Disable and provide the SQL Server Name

    3. Deployment Manager-> Organizations-> Change the report server URL

    And restart the server.

Then you can start with upgrading the CRM 4.0 to CRM2011
