Windows Live OneCare Renewal RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • I cannot believe Microsoft does not give any discount on "renewal" of  Windows Live OneCare...the price for renewal and the price for the CD (which in fact is more practical) at Best Buy is exactly the same. This is just another case where Microsoft is alienating it's end users. And I am not happy about it at all. Some incentive should be given to repeat customers ...period !

  • I see that people are having problems stopping Auto Renewal and that Microsoft is billing people (on their credit cards) just like they do with Xbox and Xbox 360 subscriptions (this is done automatically as the expire date approaches) seems once you get on their merry go-round there is a hard time getting off.

  • You can renew with a retail product key, which can often be obtained cheaper than the full retail price.

Go to http://billing.microsoft.com and sign in with your subscription LiveID. (Open OneCare and click help/about to view the subscription LiveID)

Select the OneCare subscription and click on the renew link.

Choose the option to renew with a prepaid PIN or token which is the retail product key.

Enter the 25 character key and proceed.

It can take up to 24 hours for the subscription status to be updated in OneCare.

To cancel your subscription at any time and request a refund if you were charged for autorenew, contact support. Note that you agreed to the automatic renewal as a term of service for the OneCare subscription if you paid by credit card.

Your OneCare subscription will not be renewed on 6/10/10 -

See this post for End of Life information for Windows Live OneCare - http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/onecaregeneral/thread/81996436-edad-41ba-bdfc-02fc094e2ca9

However, if your subscription to OneCare shows incorrect or expired in OneCare

    • Check your PC date and time. If it is incorrect, change it and restart the computer.
    • Check your subscription status by logging in with your subscription LiveID at http://billing.microsoft.com
    • Confirm that this is the same LiveID shown to be the Subscription ID in OneCare - Help/About…
    • Open OneCare and click "Check for Updates" to have OneCare check for updated credentials

If your subscription is correctly shown at the Billing site, but incorrect in OneCare and your PC date and time are correct, please contact support.
