I bought my computer two years ago directly from Lenovo. It came with a pre-installed version of Vista. I turned on my laptop today and it says that my Vista is no longer genuine. I have read similar posts and here is the information you need:

[MODS – please move this thread to the Vista WGA forum]Your SLIC Table appears to have got corrupted somehow – and it is needed to be able to self-activate the OEM_SLP Key in use here. This can be caused by a problem with the Licensing Store. Please try the below steps to recreate the Store with the correct data.
1) Open an Internet Browser window.
2) Type: %windir%\system32 into the browser address bar.
3) Find the file CMD.exe
4) Right-Click on CMD.exe and select 'Run as Administrator'
5) Type: net stop slsvc (it may ask you if you are sure, select yes)
6) Type: cd %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareLicensing
7) Type: rename tokens.dat tokens.bar
8) Type: cd %windir%\system32
9) Type: net start slsvc
10) Type: cscript slmgr.vbs -rilc (It may take a long time for this to complete, please be patient)
11) Restart your computer twice. You may be asked to enter your COA Key and/or Activate.Once complete, run another MGADiag report and post back with the results

My software can pre-installed on a Lenovo laptop. I followed the steps above and then realized that I do not have my product key. Fortunately, I was able to locate it using a program that I found. When I began the activation process it gave me an error message. The description told me that I am missing one or more licenses. If need be I can redo the process again and jot down the error code. However, here is the results of the second diagnostic test.

The error code is 0xC004F063. In the process of posting this in the forum I noticed one of your older posts about how Vista is being affected by Avast and Bitdefender. I don't have these programs buy I have similar products (AVG & Ad-aware). Could this be a similar issue?Monday, January 2, 2012 8:24 PM

Without entering the COA sticker Key, the whole thing in pointless – Check the case of your computer, and the battery compartment if it’s a laptop. If you cannot find the sticker, then your only option would be a System Recovery back to ex-factory state, meaning that you would lose all installed programs and data – the data you could back up first, but you’d have to ensure that you have the installers for any applications you’ve installed.

haha thanks, i'll take a crack at it. Thanks for all the help though, you've been much more helpful than the folks at Lenovo. This might just be an opportunity to justify getting Windows 7.Tuesday, January 3, 2012 1:01 AM
