I created a mesh folder on my desktop at home to sync some pictures with my desktop at the office. At home I have a slow dsl connection. The office has a 45mbps connection to the internet.
If I share the folder with my wife and she decides to sync it with her pc at work, my question is:
Is the sync algorithm smart enough to figure out which one of my devices has the fastest connection and use that? Or will it always sync from the pc that setup the folder?
Live Mesh will attempt to leverage whatever connections it can to make the sync process quick and smooth - however, we do currently have some known issues with P2P sync (including cases where the folders set to sync P2P don't sync at all), and no way to guarantee that Live Mesh will always use the fastest available connection. The good news, though, is that much of this should be improved in our next release (coming soon). The simple answer to your question, though, is that Live Mesh is designed to be 'smart' about the connections it uses to sync data, and is not limited to just sync from the original location (the PC the folder started on, say).
Hope that helps,
Ben.
