Net Worth Report Problem RRS feed

  • Question

  • Probably I'm only noticing this now because of the dates involved.

I am using the Sunset version  (US).

On 12/30/2014, I did a partial transfer of assets from an old Roth IRA account to a newly set up Roth IRA account (to the Cash side of the new account).  On 1/5/2015  (5 Jan 2015) I purchased some funds in the new account, using the Cash portion as the source of funds.

I have confirmed that the new account is set up as a Retirement account.

The transfer transactions appear on a Transaction Report.

However, a Net Worth report as of 12/31/2014 does NOT show the funds in the new Roth Cash account -- Neither the Cash nor the Investment sides of the new account show on any Net Worth report until 5 Jan 2015 -- after the fund purchases have been made.  This, of course, makes my year end Net Worth report in error by the amount of the funds transferred.

I "reset" the Net Worth report, but as soon as I set the date back to 12/31/2014, the amount of the transfer disappears.

Of note, the amount does show up on the Portfolio Value by Investment Type report for 12/31/2014.

Any thoughts as to how to fix this would be much appreciated.

  • Absent any other suggestions, I developed a workaround which seems to be effective and, hopefully, won't have any untoward side-effects.

I entered a Buy for zero shares at zero price into the Investment account on the date of the transfer of funds into the Cash account.  (I used the Cash account as the source of the funds, but I don't know if that is necessary).

After doing that, both the cash and the investment accounts now appear on the Net Worth report for 12/31/2014.

It seems this shouldn't have happened, however, but at least I've found a solution that seems to work for me.
