"Conversion Failed" message when attempting to convert to NTFS

When setting up backup function I get a Dialog Box saying "OneCare will convert the storage space on this backup device to use a more secret file system,NTFS, etc. When I push OK. I get a dialog box "windows Live OneCare - Converting to NTFS. The result of the conversion attempt gives an error -- "Conversion Failed" When I close the the error message dialog box I go back to the "Save your backup settings" dialog box.

I am trying to backup to an Iomega 74G external Hard drive. I am using windows XP.

Formatting the disk with the NTFS file system will also solve the problem if there’s nothing that needs to be saved on it.

WindowsOneCare would not allow me to ignore the request. I was able to format the disc outside of OneCare as you suggested and that took care of the problem. Thanks
