Cannot delete threads that contain abusive post(s)

Question
-
I've seen this a couple of times now, threads in forums in which I'm a moderator that contain an abusive post cannot be deleted. The "Delete Thread" option is missing from the "Options" drop-down. All other moderator options are present. It looks random, other threads from the same forum do offer the Delete Thread option. Examples:
Can't delete: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/netfxbcl/thread/d725cafc-3b54-4e60-9ef8-9fa7713648aa
Can delete: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/netfxbcl/thread/20579da7-1a38-4667-b389-2af6a842de46
It is specific to threads that contain posts marked as abusive, never seen the problem otherwise.

It's not specific to only posts marked as Abusive. You also won't see Delete Thread if a post has been marked as Answered. In that case you need to first of all remove the mark as answered. Then you can Delete the thread. But as far as I know you can't say that a post isn't abusive. But if you can, then doing that will probably allow Delete Thread again.

Now, why do you want to go around and delete already answered threads ?
I don't think you'd like to answer the same question over and over again.
The idea that people should search for an answer before they start a thread should be more emphasized.
I checked the "propose as an answer" image on the previous post in error, I'm sorry.

Hmya, I might as well make this a public service announcement:
Folks, if you feel an irresistible urge to leave an abusive post in response to an answer you didn't like, be sure to duplicate that post at least 5 or 10 times, marking each as an answer. The more, the better. The odds a moderator will make the effort to delete the thread are pretty slim.

So, you're advising me to act abusive?
I don't think stooping to that level will achieve much.
It's a well known tactic to make your enemy (even more) angry (if he already is). See Sun Tzu.
If services are not good enough, maybe it's time to find some better services.
Maybe we should migrate ?

>Now, why do you want to go around and delete already answered threads ?
Speaking for me I think I've done it either once or twice in total.
Firstly the fact that someone has marked a question as being answered doesn't necessarily mean that it is.
Secondly, suppose the thread is announcing a meeting to be held on a date that was six months ago. That thread can be deleted. It's no longer serving a useful purpose.
In this case I think the thread I was deleting was one that was posted to the completely wrong forum (and so the answer too was invalid for that forum). These days I would move it to the Off-Topics forum so that it is still available in the system. Then, I don't think I had that option, (so) I deleted it. If I hadn't and had just left it there, it would have encouraged more people to post off-topic posts to that forum. -
hi,
for me it sounds like the maker of the forum think like me ;)
if one mark somethink us abusiv you need to store it to take a law aktion-
but it will be good to move it in a folder like abusiv post hidden for normal users. and waiting for a aktion of a higher instance than a MOD.
(leave a link for the abusiv reporter to find it back to-talk about what will happen now, and for the writter of abusiv to.)
for ansered posts. if they found a anser for a problem why delet it?
move it to faq for storage or leave it there for a automatik delet.
i dont like the way most MOD's work
it looks like one programmer think the same xD
how made this great funktion to block the delet if market us abuse? -
Instead of the post there could be the text: -EXPLICIT DELETED- after a few ( 2 or 3 ?) moderators or administrators have decided the post is abusive. One could even mark the post as being abusive. Nevertheless, the post shouldn't be removed. I assume we all would like to know who was abusive. Only if it were for future reference. This is not 'just another forum'. Abusive members don't come by the dozen. I'm sure a subscription can be cancelled after repeated instances.
Information is the most valuable commodity I know off.
