Should we go for MCTS 70-515 exam? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have bough material (MS Press book) for 70-515 however, I recently came to know through Microsoft site that this exam will be retiring in July-2013. My question is does it make sense to have this exam? since it is mostly on Web but not on MVC framework.

    Please advise.

The exam is useful by itself, even if it is retiring next July, since it will give you an MCTS on Web applications.

Note that even though it is strongest on WebForms, it does contain a whole section on MVC, so you will need to know both.

The upgrade exams to version 4.5 will only be useful if you go on to get your MCPD on version 4.0. There is no upgrade from the MCTS only. Be aware that the other exams that are needed for the MCPD will also be retired in July 2013.

  • Yes you should go ahead for it. I am giving it this Friday. You can complete your MCPD and then give an upgrade exam next year for .NET 4.5
