Vista complains it is not activated and not genuine after a Microsoft update RRS feed

  • Question

  • My laptop was updated by Microsoft today as a restore point was created for Windows Update Install. Right after that Vista Home Basic 32bit  began to complain that it was not activated and it was not genuine. I have been to the website and  installed the activex control. The system passed all of the diagnostics but when I try to vaildate itt says VALIDATION incomplete try again later. Repeated attempts always get the same result. Right now Vists shows a product key with an OEM license from HP and there is a sticker on my pc with a Microsoft product key. It doesn't matter which of these I try to enter Vista says they don't appear to be valid keys. I have tried the earlier restore point with no success. HP says this is all Microsoft's fault and they must fix it.

The laptop has been running without a problem for more than three months. Updates on auto and internet connected for hours daily.

    Can you help me please?
