Hi all,
Can anyone please tell me what is the difference between Status and Status Reason?

Status and Status Reason are associated fields that act in a dependent manner. For example, the Status options for a lead are: Open, Completed, Canceled and Scheduled. The Status Reason options depend on the Status value. When the lead Status is Open, the Status Reason options are: New, Contacted.
You can customise Status Reasons to meet your requirements, but not the Status.

Have a look at the Developers Center for Dynamics on MSDN. I think the Developer Training Kit and SDK will be good resources for you. They have many examples.
