Recovery of illegible Product-Key on COA

Question
-
Had to replace hard drive and of course no product recovery disk for the system. Tried to just install Windows 7 Home Premium from my family pack, but it will not accept the product-key as valid even though it is entered properly. I am assuming that it needs to be the Product-Key from the COA, but due to a torn area on COA the key is illegible. I have a picture of COA and one of model & serial number. Is there anything else I need to be able to get the proper key code?Saturday, December 20, 2014 1:03 AM

The Windows 7 Family Pack license is for upgrades only. That is why you're having an issue. You need to contact the manufacturer of your computer and ask them to send you their Windows 7 Recovery/Reinstallation disk. It will not require a product key since it is BIOS-locked to the PC manufacturer's motherboard.
