Runtime Error in Opera RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hey, I reported an error a while back and requested it be moved here when I realised that it was not in the correct forum.

It hasn't been resolved yet, so i'm posting it here again.

    Original Post:

    Problem:

Using the Opera browser, whenever I log into MSDN forums, I get a runtime error. I also get the error when clicking on links that I find when searching from Bing or google etc. The error details are hidden from view (customErrors are on). Please see repro steps in the other thread I linked to above.

  • Sir, this isn't an issue in desktop search.  I've seen this as well.
It's a "blown cookie" or corrupted cookie issue.  The only way I can fix
it is to delete my LiveID cookie and then it's fine.

Otherwise you get this issue where you get a SQL error/IIS error and the
issue looks like it's server side when it's client side.

And yeah, firefox or chrome doesn't have the issue.

  • Hello,

Thank you for your post!  I would suggest posting your question in one of the (Windows Developer Center > Windows: Search Forums > Windows Desktop Search Help > Windows Safe Search Filter - Application Error) located here:

    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/windowsdesktopsearchhelp/threads

    Hope that helps!

    Have a great day!

    Thanks & Regards,

  • No thanks. I've posted it twice already (two different places). If no one picks up on it, i'm not going to run around posting in all the forums. I'll just use FireFox instead. Perhaps someone will do some cross browser testing one day and pick up on it.

  • Hi Susan

So far so good. I can use MSDN in Opera again:P Hopefully the MSDN forum developers can prevent this from happening for other users by tweaking their cookie logic (or handling the errors server side), but for now i'm a happy camper again.

Thank you for taking the time to reply!
