Not so SyncToy... RRS feed

  • Question

  • Howzit guys,

I need to find out why the following's happening:

I created the scheduled taks so as to run SyncToy every now and then. So I've made sure that SyncToyCmd is being run when the task is executed, and I've added the -R option to the back of the command line. When I've entered my password and username, I click the task just to make sure it runs and all I get is a command box, with the header saying, "C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe".

This was strange I thought, and I looked at the Task Manager to make sure it'd not stopped responding. It hadn't, but I noticed that the CPU usage was up, around 20-30%. So it must be doing something. I've only got one pair of sync folders and it's a total backup of My Docs.

What's the problem? Or when the command box comes up, is it doing what I wanted it to?

    Many thanks...

  • As noted elsewhere on this forum, the first time you run SyncToy it will take a lot longer to run than subsequent runs.  Give it a long while to complete and the window command box will update just before it finishes.
