You'll be able to upgrade from CRM 3.0 to CRM 2011 by upgrading first to CRM 4.0. I'm pretty sure Microsoft has no plans to develop a feature to upgrade directly from CRM 3.0 to CRM 2011.

Hi Mfredo,
No direct upgrade from 3.0 to 2011. You can do with middle step in 4.0.
If you habe SA (Software Assurance) you can upgrade to latest version for free. If you have Enterprise agreement (like OLP) it have rights to downgrade. So if you will buy 2011 in the next year in Enterprise agreement you can install 4.0.
In the worst situation you can use CRM 4.0 Trial Edition to do a middle step.

I've heard the latest dates as November 2010 for new CRM Online customers (existing customers will be upgraded gradually) and January 2011 for on-premise customers. Microsoft are using the beta program to tweak the product based on customer and partner feedback so the release date rumours are all subject to change.
