MSCRM Database Migration - CONFIG File Permissions RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We have setup a new stand alone server (old desktop) to be able to run a test data recovery if the main server running CRM fails. We have run a backup and restore from the old server to the new server and both databases restored correctly.

We have been into regedit and change the paths for configdb, database and metabase (as per microsoft site) yet when running the application we get the following message

The EXECUTE permission was denied on the object ‘P_GetDefaultOrgFromAuthInfo’, database ‘MSCRM_CONFIG’, schema ‘dbo’

Can anyone help in solving this? What additional information is needed by anyone to help with this query?

  • The most likely likely cause is if the account that is the identity of the CrmAppPool application pool (within IIS) does not permission in MSCRM_Config. This account should get the SQL permissions through being a member of the AD group SqlAccessGroup, so check that the account is a member of this group.

If the CrmAppPool runs under a built-in account like SYSTEM or NetworkService, then the computer account of the CRM Server should be added to this group.

If you had to add a computer account to the AD group, then the change will only take effect after you restart the CRM server. If you add a user account to this group, then recycling the application pool should be sufficient
