CRM 3.0/SQL 2000 to CRM 4.0 SQL 2005 Upgrade

Please help.
I have been trying to put together a test environment in preparation for an upcoming upgrade and I have a question. How do we go from a database on CRM 3.0 Organization_METABASE to MSCRM_CONFIG on 4.0. I can find no documentation on this anywhere. I would really like to find something that could possibly explain the impact of the SQL 2000 to SQL 2005 upgrade has on CRM as well as the CRM 3.0 to 4.0 Upgrade.
Thanks for the help.

First, upgrade your CRM 3.0 environment to SQL 2005, then install 4.0. The way that the database upgrade happens from 3.0 to 4.0 is the upgrade converts the database. It's called an "upgrade in place" and is your only option.
