  • It is malware of a sort.

If you are using Windows Live OneCare and you have been infected, but OneCare did not detect or cannot remove the malware, please contact support to report this and for help with removal.

If  you are not using Windows Live OneCare, you are off topic for this forum. This is not a general forum for viruses, spyware, or Windows Help. For help with spyware issues, you may want to try the forums here:

  • I encountered this issue and found plenty of sources to remove the problem, all for money of course.  I then found one with a free download that removed the infected s/w.  It's called Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware.  I just used it yesterday, and it appears that it worked.  Microsoft should be concerned about this, because AntiSpyware XP 2009  gives the impression that it is a Microsoft Product.

  • I agree that this needs to be better protected against by OneCare and also removed by OneCare. And, I am quite certain that Microsoft is concerned about it as it is very widespread and quite malicious. There are in fact many variations of this malware and it is regularly morphing into new versions.
