Hi friends im prasad.I am studying mca.

I currently have windows XP on my system. I want to install Windows Server 2003 on my system with XP already there.

    Is it possible? If so,

after installation shall I have the file sharing b/w the two operating systems?

later on if I have to uninstall Windows Server 2003 what I have to do? i.e.,  do I have to re-install windows XP?

    thanks in advance..     prasad

    no issues in that...

u first install XP on 1st partition and then install windows 2003 server on 2nd partition...

keep file system while installing both OS same (like FAT/NTFS) its ur choice

and then u can share the files b/w 2 OS...

  • You cannot install Windows Server 2003 "over Windows XP", nor can you install it on an external drive. It must be installed only on an available empty partition or drive. If you wish to retain Windows XP, then you'll need a third-party partitioning program to create a new partition.

  • Hi,

when u install win2003 on a seperate drive................

in case u want to delete it ....u will also have to make the neccesary changes to boot.ini

U may use the third party tool like partion magic or any boot repairing tool to fix the mbr.
