Hello, I'm posting this in a last ditch frustration..I bought the big WHS with extra drives almost a year ago and have never gotten it to run right. I have stumped numerous HP techs and spent who knows, dozens? of hours on the tech line.
It seems that the root problem is that my simple logon for my win 7 PC has an ampersand in it, ie, A&B, and WHS can't use such characters. Changing the logon name does nothing to anything deeper in my PC, where WHS needs to sync (I'm saying this
as best I can). Is there anything I can do to make WHS sync with this PC that has that login name? Everything I've researched on my Win 7 PC side of it seems to indicate that I am out of luck. You can only change the logon name superficially because
you've got heavy registry issues and all your programs are already attached to directories and paths related to that original name.
It's really unfortunate that Windows 7 (and all previous versions I think) will let you have a login with various characters, but WHS for some strange reason won't, yet they need to have the same name... The prospect of reformating my PC and reinstalling
and configuring everything makes me shiver...I've got a huge system that would literally take me a few weeks and tons of headache to get set back up. (hence the desire for WHS)....
Anybody with any good news for me...please??
