Automatically Connect RRS feed

  • Question

  • I recently built a new server using Windows Home Server software. To save power I put the server to sleep at night - its a family server and not needed at night.

I have a MAC MINI as my media center computer and my Music, Photos etc are stored on the server, so the MINI needs that connection.

When the server wakes up in the morning the MINI does not connect to the server automatically - even manually trying to connect it fails.
If I reboot the MINI then the connections are made automatically - the server drives are mounted via the log in options in user preferences.
My question is how do I get my MINI to automatically connect to the server when the server wakes up each day?
Thanks for any help or suggestions.

  • The Mac Mini runs with Apple OS, I assume? Sorry, no knowlegde aboth that. Sometimes in the Windows world client applications also are not able to resume correctly after a temporary connection loss.
An idea would be to schedule a automated reboot of the client shortly after the server wakeup.
