Information needed about using the metadata available in the Details view of Windows/File Explorer RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm trying to find information about these "views" you can display in the details view.

The screenshot below is from Windows 7, but my questions apply to all versions of Windows.

I would like a location where I can learn what those items mean, preferably in plain English.

For example, one column available is "Date".  But...  The Date of what?  It's certainly not going to be my birthday.  <G>  Another very misleading option is Date Created.  A lot of users I encounter think that's the date a file, photo, etc. is originally created.  Which is is not.

How can a user like me take advantage of this information, competently and accurately, when you don't know what it means?

I would also like to export that list as a text file.

    Thanks for the help.
