It's possible that your ISP is blocking some or all of the ports that the Remote Access web site uses. You can easily test those ports by going to the Shields Up! web site and performing a custom port scan of the ports 80, 443, and 4125. If a port is reported by Shields Up! as STEALTH, that indicates that something is blocking it.
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)- Proposed as answer by kariya21Moderator Saturday, December 27, 2008 8:25 PM

Thanks for the help, must be something blocking it. I followed the Apress Windows Home Server Guide, which just happen to us the same router in the book as I have, to set up the manual configuration (2700HG-E Gateway)
This is what Stealth gave me.
Port
StatusProtocol and Application
80
Stealthhttp
World Wide Web HTTP
443
Stealthhttps
http protocol over TLS/SSL
4125
ClosedUnknown Protocol for this port
Unknown Application for this portSunday, December 28, 2008 7:31 AM -

Both 80 and 443 should show as open. If you are sure you forwarded those ports to the correct IP address, then most likely your ISP is blocking those ports. The only other possibility would be an incorrectly configured firewall on your server, but it should be automatically set by WHS. The easiest way to double-check your firewall settings is to logon to the server desktop and temporarily disable Windows Firewall, then try to use Remote Access again. (Just make sure to re-enable your server firewall after you test it.)Sunday, December 28, 2008 3:50 PMModerator
