Live Mesh Right Shift Key Bug RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • I am a network admin and I routinely VPN into my work PC and then ts into servers I need to maintain.  This weekend our VPN devices was going through a scheduled maintenance so I was not able to utilize it.  To my surprise I was able to use the live mesh remote connect feature to connect to my work computer.  All was well so far.  When on my work computer I tried to TS to a server and it kept on coming back telling me that I have the wrong username and password.  After trying several dif accounts and servers I noticed that when you open a TS session through a remote connect of the live mesh within this TS session the right Sift key doesn't work.  I can use the left shift key and all is great.

Very odd I know.  But I am not crazy.  I tested this with another machine I have, and had the same results.

The shift key functions as it should when whin the remote desktop connection function of live mesh.  This issue only arises when within this session you open a TS session.  It is only within this TS session that the right shift key does not work.

  • Crazy stuff :) I'd submit a bug for it on Connect (see details on the front page of the forum).

As a side note, the fact that you could connect to your work machine from home via Mesh is expected behaviour - Mesh circumvents traditional firewalls by using a relayed connection when a direct connection is not available (which can be a slight security problem in a corporate environment).

  • I've noticed the exact same thing but I don't use the Mesh's remote connect.  I'll be on my work notebook (at it physically) and have the right-shift issue on terminal services.  Been happening for a while for me, though I can't pin a start date on it.  I can't recall if it started happening right after installing Mesh (i've been using it ~6mos.) or not.  So it could be an OS issue...

  • Looking around the net for similar cases and trying to TS into a terminal services machine via normal rdp and not having the right-shift key work for me either (not via Live Mesh) would seem to indicate that this could possible be a TS issue rather than a Mesh issue?
